- If you want, you can complete one or more Identifier rows. Depending on the options you select, Clairvia Web displays patient identifier information in Assignment Manager.
- Select an Identifier. The options are National/Medical Record Number, Patient Encounter Number, Date of Birth, Gender, and Unique Encounter Number. Once you select an Identifier, the rest of the row becomes available for editing. An x is displayed at the end of the Identifier menu. If you click the x, the row reverts to its default state. Select Yes to display your identifier and its label on reports as a patient identifier. You can only select Yes for two patient identifiers at any time.
- If you want, you can enter a number from 1 to 99 in the Truncate To box. This truncates or cuts your selected identifier to the number of characters you entered. If you do not want to truncate the identifier, leave this box blank. Note that Clairvia Web truncates the identifier starting from the right. See the EXAMPLE below for more information.
- Click Save to save your changes for your selected facility, or click Save to All Facilities to save these changes to all facilities in your organization.
You can click Reset to undo any edits made since you last saved the configuration.
EXAMPLE
Ruth is configuring patient identifiers. She has selected two for display on screen and in reports: Patient Encounter Number (PEN) and Date of Birth (DOB). She has entered the number 7 in the Truncate To box for each identifier.
Patient John Jones has a Patient Encounter Number of 123456789 and was born on January 22, 1970 (01/22/1970). The application counts the characters to truncate starting from the right, so when Assignment Manager displays John's PEN, it displays *3456789, with the asterisk (*) showing that the value has been truncated. In the same way, Assignment Manager displays John's date of birth as *22/1970, with the slash (/) counted as one of the seven display characters.
