Understanding Calendar Sync

Depending on your organization's configuration, you may be able to use the Calendar Sync feature. Calendar Sync allows you to subscribe to a calendar feed that automatically sends your scheduled tasks from Staff Manager to your personal calendar program. See Updating the My Information Pages for more information about subscribing to calendar feeds.

How Staff Manager Determines the Items to Display in Your Calendar

Schedulers control what scheduled tasks are displayed through Calendar Sync using schedule publishing dates and the Show in Web option on the Staff Manager Client Task Controls tab. This same mechanism is used to control what you see in Clairvia Web, so to put it simply, if you can see a task on the web, you should see it on your device once you have synced to Staff Manager via the calendar feed. If the scheduler publishes the schedule through June, you will see your June tasks on your device. If the scheduler then decides to change the publishing end date to May 31, the next time your devices syncs Calendar Sync removes the June scheduled tasks from your device.

How Time Limits Affect What You See

Calendar Sync sends all future events to your device; however, there is a limit on how much past data Calendar Sync can display. For dates in the past, Calendar Sync is limited to displaying the entire current month and previous month.

EXAMPLE

Dr. Smith's profile has publishing dates from April 10, 2006, through June 30, 2015. Dr. Smith uses Calendar Sync to keep her smart phone updated with her schedule.

Today is March 28, 2014. Dr. Smith can view her schedule in Clairvia Web from April 10, 2006, through June 30, 2015. Even though Dr. Smith's profile's publishing start date is April 2006, however, her smart phone only displays the data from February 1, 2014, through June 30, 2015. On April 1, 2014, Dr. Smith will only be able to see data from March 1, 2014, through June 30, 2015.

You can always review all available past schedule information in Clairvia Web according to the publishing dates set by the administrator.
