Finding Patients with the Patient Finder Page
The Patient Finder page works with the Patient List Report to give you an efficient way to find patients by location at a specific time. This lets you compare patients in Staff Manager to patients in your registration application.
Only users with Read/Write Demand access can use the Patient Finder page. Schedulers set this employee level permission in Staff Manager Client.
Complete the following steps to find a patient:
- From the Demand menu, select Patient Finder.
- Select the number to search by: Encounter Number or Medical Record Number.
- Enter the number in the box.
- Click Add. This moves the number into the Selected Numbers box.
- If searching for more than one patient, repeat steps 3 and 4 for each patient.
- Click Search.
If the number is not in the application, Clairvia Web alerts you with the message Not Found. When you receive this message, you should check the ADT Status Indicator on the HL7 Census page to determine if patient messages are being received and updated within the expected periods.
If the number is in the application, the page returns the following facts about the patient or patients.
- Patient Encounter Number
- Medical Record Number
- Patient Name: Listed in Last Name, First Name, Middle Initial format, including suffixes such as Jr. or Sr.
- Profile/Location: The patient's most recent assigned profile and location in Staff Manager
- Room/Bed: The patient's most recent assigned room and bed in Staff Manager
- Admission Date/Time: The date and time the facility admitted the patient
- Discharge Date/Time: The date and time the facility discharged the patient, if applicable
- Recurring: Is the patient a recurring patient, such as a chemotherapy patient? This column displays a Y for yes and an N for no.
- Link to the patient’s ADT Functions window: The ADT Functions window displays more details about location change events. It is also the page where you enter manual ADT events.
If you do not know the encounter number or medical record number for the patient you want to find, you can:
